Intensive Alcohol Monitoring Program Receives Praise in MT

The 24/7 alcohol monitoring program in Montana is currently being pilot tested to help reduce the state’s drunken driving problem. The program requires repeat drunken driving offenders to be breath tested twice a day. A sober offender can continue with their day, but ones with alcohol present go to jail. A 99 percent success rate has been seen with program participants thus far and is paid for solely by offenders themselves. The 24/7 program received overwhelming support in the House and needs to be voted on by a Senate committee before being implemented statewide. The program aims to keep offenders more accountable and will help save taxpayer money while saving lives on Montana roads at the same time.
